Opening California's Long Distance Market

Following almost three years of filings, workshops, and extensive testing, the California Public Utilities Commission has set a date - May 24, 2001 - to make a final decision on Pacific Bell's application to offer long-distance service.

If the CPUC decides to let Pacific Bell enter our state's long-distance market, Californians will finally see the benefits of full competition: lower prices, better service and greater choice.

Pacific Bell's application was recently strengthened by an independent test that labeled the company's wholesale service systems and processes "robust and reliable."
